Carnival of Aces Roundup

The theme for September was unity and diversity in the asexual community. Next month will be hosted by Concept Awesome, and the prompt has already been posted. Asexual Agenda is looking for people to host future months of the Carnival, as currently, no one has signed up past October. If you're interested, head over to the Masterpost.

Without further ado, the submissions!

Ace-muslim wrote Asexuality is not just a white identity (but would you know that from looking?):

I feel that the asexual community has until now been caught in a bit of a catch-22. In order to become more visible, we need to have more members (i.e., people who identify as asexual) but without more visibility, it is difficult to increase our numbers. The establishment of an active, self-sustaining asexual community on Tumblr, which attracts a different group of asexuals than AVEN, can help in this. I hope that the publication of Anthony Bogaert’s book, Understanding Asexuality, by a mainstream publisher, will also help to bring greater awareness of asexuality to a wider range of people.

Pianycist wrote Scattered Thoughts About Diversity of Romantic Orientation Among Asexuals:

During the most recent Asexy Census, it was found that bi- and panromantics were as common as heteroromantics, and that heteroromantics were a minority among ace survey respondents. There was no clear majority romantic orientation: the largest groups (heteroromantics and bi/panromantics) represented comprised only 22% each. 29% of respondents said “other” for romantic orientation as well.

And Queenie wrote Visible Diversity and Unity in the Asexual Community:

So here comes the parallel: I am often the first asexual person someone has ever met.  Heck, sometimes I am the first asexual person someone has ever heard of.  So, of course, some people assume that I am representative of asexuals as a whole, at which point I start internally freaking out.
Thank you to everyone who participated! If I've left something out, or you're getting something in late, please comment here or email me at greenchestnuts at gmail dot com.
